Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving. What am I thankful for on this Thursday? I've been thinking about this all week and it's hard to choose something for this specific day but I've already done posts about my family and some friends but I haven't done anything about the kids I love.

I became an aunt back when I was in high school. I was so excited about it! I've been the youngest one in the family for a long time so it's fun to have other kids to pick on. I love to tease them and I totally treat them like my little brothers and sisters but that's how they should know I love them.

Last night my little nephew was talking to me for a long time and he asked "Laura, are you happy you're a part of our family?" And I am so happy to be a part of his family. I love each of my nieces and nephews so much even though I like to bully them a bit.

So on this Thanksgiving Thankful Thursday I'm thankful for my nieces and nephews and the love they show me.

Jazzy Jazz

Last night I was reminded - by a creep we'll call Jesse - that I have a blog. I neglect this blog a lot because I don't think people read it but I'm actually a religious follower of random people's blogs so you never know who reads this.

I followed my "cousin" Annie and she did a Thankful Thursday post and I think I may copy her. It would help me be more aware of the good things in my life.

Today, I'm thankful for Jaclyne N. Durrant. I'm going to make this as straight sounding as possible but I love her a lot so it might sound a little lesbian but despite what you may think, we're both super straight - I promise.

Jaclyne and I met about a year and a half ago. We both randomly found this house on KSL and decided to move in even though we didn't know anyone else living there. That was probably one of the best decisions I've made in my "adult" life. I had great roommates but Jaclyne and I just hit it off. We may seem like a weird combo at first because she is a girly girl and loves shoes and shopping and that is so not me but I like to think of us as soul sisters. We had to have been friends in Heaven. No doubt about it. I accidentally tell her too much and instantly regret it but she always just laughs at me. She deals with my awkwardness and even makes me meals because I'm lazy. She is hands down the most forgiving person I've ever met. I sometimes get frustrated by that but it's really something I admire a lot. She kinda creeps me out because she knows me so well. By a single text she somehow knows I'm having a bad day. Mind blowing! But I need her to help me see things from a different perspective. I could go on and on about her but I'm scared it would be a bit too much for us to sound straight. But I'm thankful I met her and that she has stuck around.

Knee

I totally messed up my knee playing indoor soccer on Saturday. I guess I completely tore my ACL and other things. Basically, I'm really hurt and need surgery. There are definitely pros and cons to messing up your knee:

Cons:
  • Crutches make my arms really sore
  • Physical therapy is the worst. I may or may not have cried for a second.
  • My office building is not handicap friendly. All of the doors are really hard to open when you don't really have any free hands.
Pros:
  • It is a great conversation starter. I have talked to tons of people in our office building that I've never talked to before and I've been working there for a year and a half.
  • My nieces are my slaves. They'll pretty much do anything I ask.
  • I love being put under. I'm always really happy when I come out of it.
  • I have a job that is willing to work with all of my appointments and everyone has been pretty nice about the whole situation.
  • But most of all, I got to fulfill one of my long-time goals. I finally got to (legally) drive an electric wheelchair!

I really shouldn't have gone out in public wearing that but it's kind of hard to do laundry and I was going to Wal-Mart so I knew I wouldn't be the worst dressed person there.

Surgery on the 6th of September. Can't wait!!

Family

The past few months have been full of changes and some struggles. I've been humbled quite a bit and have learned a lot of life lessons. It has been hard at times but I've really had to rely on people more than I'd like. I don't know how to describe it but my family has really stepped it up and helped me in ways that can't even be put into words.

These people mean the world to me. Each and every one of them have a special place in my heart. I'm grateful I have a such an amazing family. I get to spend the week with them at our cabin next week and I can hardly wait. I love you guys!

Delicious

The guys at work watch a lot of ESPN so we've been watching a lot of soccer games lately. Luckily, soccer is probably one of the only sports I enjoy watching on TV. I've decided that soccer players are probably the most attractive athletes. Don't agree?

David Beckham. Case and point.

I'm so sorry

Hi Blog Stalkers. I am so sorry for neglecting this blog so badly for the last little bit. My life has been a little busy. I'm going to pull a classic accountant move and blame it on tax season.

Speaking of tax season, I lived through it. It was full of late hours and early mornings but I really did enjoy it. Yep, I'm a huge weirdo and I'll be the first one to admit that.

I've also been hanging out with one of my favorite people, Miss Jazzy Jazz. Her birth name is Jaclyne but I call her Jazzy or Jazz. I'm really good at handing out stupid nicknames so just watch out! She's the best and some day I'm going to blog about her for the world to see... but for now you'll just have to enjoy this:

Dreams

I absolutely love dreams. I was basically sick all last week. I had this annoying headache that wouldn't go away no matter what I took. The only thing good about that illness was the effect it had on my sleep. It took me forever to fall asleep but when I finally would, I had some crazy dreams. I've forgotten most of them but I do remember my grandma- who is 80 and just broke her hip- being pregnant and being completely freaked out. It was because I was selfish. I was freaking out because I thought they were too old to be having a baby and I didn't want to be stuck with it when they died.
How nasty....

I also had a dream that my cousin convinced me to run for student body president or something. I did and I actually won. It was sooo stressful because that just isn't my style. I am not social- I'd argue that I'm socially awkward and I don't think I'd have many arguing that I'm not.

I guess I have been stressed out? I'm happy to be feeling better and will try to be better about blogging.
